An Evening of Style

Happy Friday Great People!!

Last Night I had the pleasure of attending the March of Dimes, Evening of Style Event with Mikki Taylor and Special Host Malaak Compton-Rock at Neiman Marcus located at the Mall of Short Hills.

The Event was remarkable. The room was filled with lovely people waiting to view the most fashionable pieces provided by Neiman Marcus and to hear exclusive fashion tips and advice by the One and Only Mikki Taylor.

The event sparked attraction from many including Malinda Williams, Actress, Sam Fine, Celebrity Make-Up Artist and many more. Designs such as Tom Ford, YSL, Valentino, Michael Kors, Gucci, and many others graced the runway as elegant fashion seekers viewed the awesome pieces.

All proceeds from the event was donated to the March of Dimes Organization. March of Dimes, is an organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. I encourage all to sign up as a volunteer and a donator for this marvelous organization that’s striving to make change in our surrounding communities.

I enjoyed hearing fashionable tips from Mikki about dressing your closet with pieces you actually need and not overloading on impulsive buys. Mikki rewarded us with some of her famous “Mikki-isms” that you can find in her book “Commander in Chic” which was published in 2011. Some of my favorite “Mikki-isms” in the book are:

“Please don’t ever look as if you cared too much. A perennially chic sister is always modern, chic, and effortless in her appearance.”

“Don’t take trends too seriously. You’re more than a “season of style whims”!

“Work a striking sense of style by playing the best pieces to new perfection.”

The book is extremely helpful and informational regarding style, fashion, and beauty for the everyday woman. Although the book is based on the style, fashion, and class of our first lady Michelle Obama, Mikki makes reference to how everyday women can have a first lady style. To all my Fashionista’s out there if you haven’t done so already pick up a copy of Mikki Taylor’s book
Commander in Chic“. It’s a MUST read.

Kudos to Nieman Marcus for hosting a lovely venue and lovely fashions, kudos to everyone from the March of Dimes New Jersey Chapter for hosting such great event, and kudos to Mikki Taylor and her wonderful hostesses for a fashion filled experience.
